Jess: Devon is Heaven! As a child it captured my imagination, growing up in the South Hams, minutes from the sea, just a few miles from the moors. With access to beautiful hills, stunning scenery, rural havens and huge diversity of landscape it was just the best place to grow up!
For hours I stared at the clouds, made up stories about the things I could see on the opposite valley, went on mini-adventures with fellow muddy-faced children and felt the fresh Devon air in my lungs. It wasn’t always so rosy, but it was certainly the best place to start. Having moved up country; studied in the far reaches of Scotland, explored exotic lands and habitats, now that I have my own children I have returned to the very heart of the South West (Mid-Devon) and it is becoming much harder to leave the county - we have it all here!
With the natural world under threat, what a brilliant place to understand about natural value and ecology and what we can do to protect this wonderful Earth of ours. ‘Planet & People’ is passionate about inspiring kids to LOVE the Earth - read more about us when you have a mo! We have started our workshops for the Home Ed Community and have already learned a whole lot together.
There is so much to do and see here, I thought I would note down a few things that might help those who are home-educating - what a wonderful place to learn and enjoy!
